County Animal Services to Take Part in Pet Health Expo

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The County Department of Animal Services will offer microchipping, rabies vaccinations and dog licensing at the Encinitas Pet Health Expo from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 3 at Encinitas City Hall located at 505 South Vulcan Avenue.

The Expo features plenty of fun activities ranging from photos with your pets to a best trick contest. The annual event also offers pet grooming, exhibits, prizes and more.

“Enjoy the event and take care of some of your pet’s basic necessities at the same time. Get the rabies shot, buy a license and a microchip all in one spot,” said Dawn Danielson, Director of County Animal Services. “The recent fires in our county remind us how important it is to have your pet microchipped and identified. It could save your pet’s life!”

Animal Services will microchip pets for a one-time fee of $20, which includes the registration. Rabies vaccinations for dogs four months or older and cats three months or older are $6. Amnesty from late fees is offered to owners who have failed to license their dog or have allowed their dog’s annual license to lapse. For the protection of owners and their pets, dogs must be on a leash and cats and rabbits in a carrier while at the clinic.

Microchipping and vaccinations are open to all members of the public, and licensing is available for residents who live in the unincorporated county and our client cities of San Diego, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar and Santee.
