Six horses impounded by County Animal Services earlier this week are now back at home with their owner.
Three geldings and three mares had been running loose in the Boulevard area for a couple of weeks according to the federal Bureau of Land Management. County Animal Services was called in Sunday and the department, along with the San Diego Humane Society, brought the horses to the County’s shelter in Bonita on Monday. Animal Services Deputy Director Dan DeSousa said the animals all appeared to be in good health and if they weren’t claimed by Saturday they would be made available for adoption.
The owner called Animal Services Wednesday morning to say the horses were hers and she took them back home that afternoon after paying the department’s fee to impound, house and feed the animals. The owner said she’s been having problems with people cutting her fences so that’s why the horses had been running loose.
